00400		Underlying any scientific approach is a philosophy whose
00500	tacit beliefs are seldom articulated. The approach to be described
00600	views one characteristic of man, the paranoid mode of thought and action,
00700	from a symbol processing standpoint. The main principle concerns
00800	ethogenesis, that is, an interest in those unobservable symbolic
00900	structures responsible for generating observable human conduct and
01000	character. Since we do not know the actual structures involved in this
01100	generation, we create analogies with symbolic structures we are now
01200	familiar with, namely, algorithms which can be actualized as a model
01300	on a computer. Once the model is constructed the central questions
01400	become those of validation, improvement and evaluation.
